Telescoping Clamps

Telescoping Clamps

Spec your own telescoping tube system! Our class A tubing in combination with the clamps here enables virtually any combination pole system length. Shortest being 2 feet (2 tubes @ 23.5”, with 1 clamp) all the way up to 50 feet (9 tubes @ 72”, with 8 clamps)! There are 9 tube diameters that work with these clamps, referred to as CLASS A TELESCOPING TUBING sku's 45001 through 45009. Each diameter is sold in 3 length options – 24”, 36” & 72”. The clamps must be bonded to the carbon tubing using a 2 part epoxy. Be sure to prep the clamp and tube surface prior to bond.

We recommended you utilize a low friction tape to take up the gap between the diameters of the varying tubes. This will help keep the system as stiff as possible at full extension. Additionally, this same tape can be applied to the ID of the larger diameter tube and the OD of the smaller tube to prevent the tubes from pulling apart at full extension. Importatnt to note, as the class A tubing diameters increase, so does the tube wall thickness. I.e., sku 45001 (smallest in the lineup) has a wall thickness of 0.03" and sku 45009 (largest in the lineup) has a wall thickness of 0.066".

Note that a fully bonded tube system over ~35 feet becomes quite difficult to physically handle and maneuver. Additionally, there is no positive locking mechanism in place to prevent the tubes from sliding completely out of one another. One trick we’ve used is to label the tubes with a silver sharpie at the point you wish to stop to signal the operator they’ve reached full extension.
