1140 Denier Kevlar 49 Fiber◾ Plain Weave ◾ 5.3 Oz. ◾ Great For Industrial Applications

Kevlar® 49 material is rated primarily for industrial applications including sporting goods, boats and as reinforcements in other composite structures. It is important to note that this is not Kevlar® 29, which is built for ballistic applications and is far less common. The density of both Kevlar® 29 and 49 is 1.44 g/cm^3 or 0.052 lb/in^3. For comparison, carbon fiber has a density of 1.76 g/cm^3 or 0.064 lbs/in^3 respectively. 

Although Kevlar is less dense than carbon fiber, it is far less stiff. Tensile modulus is ~16msi vs. 33msi for standard modulus carbon. Additionally, Kevlar® 49 sees 2.4% fiber elongation at break.
