Fiberglass Prepreg and Dry Fabrics
Fiberglass is a strong lightweight composite material and is used for many products. Although it is not as strong and stiff as composites based on carbon fiber, it is less brittle, and its raw materials are much cheaper. Its bulk strength and weight are also better than many metals, and it can be more readily molded into complex shapes. Applications of fiberglass include aircraft, boats and automobiles.
Currently we offer two styles of Fiberglass, each is 50" wide and sold by the yard:
Style 7781 (8 Harness Satin Weave) - Satin weaves are twill weaves modified to produce fewer intersections. The ‘harness’ number used in the designation (typically 4, 5 and 8) is the total number of fibres crossed and passed under, before the fibre repeats the pattern. Satin weaves are very flat, have good wet out and a high degree of drape.
Aluminized Glass Fabric (2x2 Twill Weave - Simply put, Barracuda® is like moldable steel. It boasts the look of metal with the functionality of traditional high performance fabrics. A marriage of style and function, this classy fabric is poised to revolutionize products that demand aesthetic appeal and strength – everything from sporting goods to luggage, motorcycle helmets to kitchen appliances, dashboards to umbrella shafts – and we’re coming up with new applications every day.
