This 2.5” ID tube SKU 35152-GTRQ, was tested in a destructive failure test where the universal joints were removed and the shafts placed in a “pinned” yoke fixture. This destructive testing resulted in a sample average torsional strength to be 3267 lb/ft. Failure occurred in the tube when the adhesive broke and caused the yoke to slip inside the tube. This failure mode was unsatisfactory to us so we tested again with a ¾” bolt inserted through each of the bonded in yokes and carbon. This test resulted in a slightly higher strength and failure was caused by the adhesive breaking and the bolt being ripped through the carbon.
