This tightly woven dry plain weave cloth (checkerboard pattern) uses standard modulus T300 or equivalent carbon fiber. Most often used in specialty applications but also seen in the aerospace and automotive industry this prepreg is woven using 1K filament in the warp and fill directions yielding a very robust, stiff & very light aerial weight woven product. Since this is a "1k" material, you must be careful to not rely on this as a "bulking up" material as its ply thickness is only 0.006" thick!
Not only does this material provide a great cosmetic but also serves very well as structural support for composite structures and designs requiring the most stringent of weight constraints while still requiring significant stiffness.
