If you request a custom length you will be charged for a full length item (or items if more than 1 is needed to meet your request) plus a cutting fee. You will then be shipped the item sized to your specification and any remaining length of the orginal item (drops). Sanding also incurs a fee which will be included in the quote. All items that have been sanded or cut may not be returned.

Unlike metals which have similar properties in all directions (isotropic), the properties of composites are varying, dependent on the orientation of the fibers in each layer. This particular carbon fiber fabric tube has an internal diameter (ID) of 1.375" and an outer diameter (OD) of 1.471". The outer ply of material on this tube is a 2x2 twill weave (diagonal appearance seen below) which will prevent fiber breakout better than unidirectional material. Thus, fabric tubes provide an ideal surface for machining. The core of this tube is almost always comprised of multi-directional "uni" plies which makes most carbon fiber fabric & unidirectional tubes ideal for bending and compression applications.

INFINITubeTW carbon 1.375" ID tubing is manufactured for use with our telescoping clamps and low Friction. If you have never used low friction tapes, they are a Teflon coated with an adhesive backing. They are designed to be used as a spacer between tubes of varying diameters to provide smooth sliding action and longer life of your assembly.

  • 45° Fibers maximize torsional stiffness. Typically plied together in an opposing manner, i.e. ±45°. Consider twisting the tube like a vehicle's driveshaft.
