Stock Aluminum Honeycomb Panels are comprised of 5052-H32 Kynar® White Finish Face Sheets laminated to a 3/8” cell - 3003 alloy 3.6 lbs./FTᶟ Aluminum Honeycomb Core. A two-part commercial grade epoxy with a service temperature between -50°F and 250°F is used as the bonding agent. The average Lap Shear strength for our stock panels is 900-psi at 73°F and 1205-psi at -40°F.
These stock panels are A+ Fire Rated and are in accordance with ASTM test method E84 – 10a “Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials.” Report is available upon request. Rock West Composites takes no responsibility for actual performance in customer products.
We also offer panels with Kynar® Finish. Kynar® coating or PVDF coating (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a pure thermoplastic fluoropolymer that is non-reactive and possesses multiple coating benefits. Kynar® PVDF coating is a chemical resistant, thick film barrier coating primarily used on chemical processing equipment due to it's low weight and low thermal conductivity. This coating is unaffected by most chemicals and solvents, and has excellent wear and abrasion resistance. Kynar® PVDF coatings are especially resistant to solvents, acids and have a very low density compared to similar fluoropolymers. Kynar® PVDF coatings for steel, aluminum, and other metals also have a high dielectric strength, excellent resistance to weathering elements in harsh environments. Along with the ability to self extinguish, Kynar® PVDF coating material generates little smoke in the event of a fire.
